Armenian Catholicos, six bishops face renewed court proceedings
08 September 2026 16:40
A court case involving Catholicos Garegin II and six senior bishops of the Armenian Apostolic Church will be heard again by Judge Serzh Rushanyan.
No date has yet been set for the hearing, Calider.Az reports via Armenian media.
The case was previously referred by Rushanyan to a court in Yerevan but has since been returned to the Armavir Court.
Garegin II and the bishops are accused of failing to comply with a court order that prohibited the implementation of a canonical decision by the Catholicos. The proceedings were launched in February and are linked to allegations of obstructing the enforcement of a court order in a case concerning the defrocking of Saroyan.
