Wizz Air to base fourth aircraft in Armenia and add new routes

08 September 2026 16:09

Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air plans to increase its fleet based in Armenia to four aircraft and launch flights from Yerevan to three new European destinations, the company said.

Wizz Air Chief Commercial Officer Ian Malin said flights from Yerevan to Basel, Switzerland, will begin on December 18, operating three times a week. Flights to Valencia, Spain, will start on December 19 with two weekly services, while the Yerevan–Varna route will launch on June 6, 2027, Armenian media reports.

“Wizz Air is one of the fastest-growing companies. We currently have 18 destinations from Armenia to 12 European countries. Before the arrival of the third aircraft in October, we are already thinking about a fourth aircraft,” Malin said at a press conference.

The fourth aircraft is scheduled to be based in Yerevan from December 17. Wizz Air also plans to increase frequencies on existing routes, with flights to Prague rising to five per week and services to Memmingen, Germany, increasing to four per week.

Malin said the airline expects to approach 100 million passengers annually this year.

Wizz Air currently bases aircraft at 44 airports and operates a fleet of about 270 aircraft, most of them Airbus A321neo jets, which the company says offer improved fuel efficiency and environmental performance.
