CIS Foreign Ministers Council to meet in Turkmenistan on October 7

The meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will be held on October 7, 2026, in the city of Turkmenbashi, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry has announced following a ceremony involving Serdar Mukhammadurdyyev, Turkmen deputy foreign minister, and CIS Deputy Secretary General Denis Trefilov to sign a protocol coordinating preparations for the meetings.

The ministry said, earlier, the sides discussed current issues of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the CIS, Caliber.Az reports.

The document is aimed at ensuring coordination of the organisational and substantive aspects of the upcoming meetings, which will be held as part of Turkmenistan’s 2026 chairmanship of the CIS.

Turkmenistan is chairing the CIS bodies in 2026.

As Russian Ambassador to Ashgabat Ivan Volynkin previously reported, the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS will be held on October 9, 2026, in the Avaza National Tourist Zone in Turkmenbashi.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend the meeting.
