Media: Armenian PM weighs appointing ex-security chief as envoy to EU country

Armen Grigoryan, the former secretary of Armenia’s National Security Council, may be appointed ambassador to one of Europe’s key countries, Armenian newspaper Zhogovurd reports, citing sources.

According to the publication, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan offered Grigoryan the diplomatic post, and he did not reject the proposal.

Grigoryan served as secretary of the Security Council from 2018 until August 13, 2026, when he was replaced by Alen Simonyan.

Armenian media previously reported that following his resignation, Pashinyan offered Grigoryan the position of chief adviser. Grigoryan reportedly declined the offer.

He later held a book launch attended by Pashinyan and representatives of the ruling Civil Contract party.
