Israeli forces discover weapons cache in southern Gaza
Israeli military forces say they have continued operations to dismantle underground infrastructure and eliminate armed militants in the southern Gaza Strip under the terms of the current ceasefire agreement.
According to an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) statement, on February 16, troops conducting operations near the so‑called “Yellow Line” in southern Gaza discovered a cache of weapons. The military said the cache included a substantial number of firearms, a rocket‑propelled grenade (RPG) and an explosive device, Caliber.Az reports.
The IDF added that the weapons were believed to have been used by members of the Hamas Rafah brigade and were intended to be used against Israeli forces.
The IDF stated that its troops would remain deployed in the area in line with the ceasefire terms and continue efforts to locate and neutralise threats, including militants hiding in tunnel networks, in order to protect Israeli soldiers and civilians.
