Israeli PM to approve Lebanon agreement in Security Cabinet
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to approve the agreement with Lebanon exclusively at a meeting of the Security Cabinet, without putting it to a vote at the full government session.
The prime minister justified his decision by stating that the agreement pertains to defence issues rather than political ones, Caliber.Az reports via Israeli media.
The Kan Corporation quotes a high-ranking source who described the agreement as "a very fragile deal." At the same time, the source stated that the agreement fully aligns with Israel's interests.
"This is not the end of the war; it’s a ceasefire that we will reassess every day. It could last two days, or it could last two years," the source said.
The Security Cabinet meeting will begin at 16:00 (GMT+2) on November 26, during which a vote on the agreement is expected to be made.
The Cabinet session will be preceded by a meeting with defence officials, as well as discussions between the prime minister and coalition party leaders. Netanyahu will aim to minimise the number of ministers who vote against the agreement.
