Uzbek president accepts Trump’s invitation to co-found Gaza Board of Peace
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has accepted an official invitation from US President Donald Trump to join the Gaza Peace Council, formally known as the Board of Peace, a new international initiative designed to strengthen security in the Middle East.
Uzbekistan was offered a founding-member role in the Gaza Peace Council, and in his response, Mirziyoyev confirmed the country’s readiness to act as a co-founder, emphasising that Tashkent views the initiative as an important step toward ending longstanding conflicts and establishing lasting peace across the Middle East, Caliber.Az reports via Uzbek media.
The initiative is based on the Comprehensive Plan for Ending the Gaza Conflict, presented in September 2025. It has already gained international recognition and was endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803 on November 17, 2025.
The council is designed to unite countries willing to take responsibility for long-term stability and peaceful development in the region. It will serve as a key platform for monitoring commitments and mobilising resources to rebuild affected areas.
Earlier, similar invitations were extended by Trump to the presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has officially confirmed his country’s participation as a founding member, while Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia is currently reviewing the invitation and the details of potential future cooperation.
