Putin receives invitation to join Trump’s Gaza Board of Peace
Russian President Vladimir Putin has received an invitation from the United States to join the Gaza "Board of Peace," a central component of the Trump-led peace plan aimed at stabilising the region.
Dmitry Peskov, the Russian Presidential Press Secretary, confirmed the invitation and stated that the Russian government is currently reviewing the proposal. Peskov also mentioned that Russia hopes to engage with the American side soon to clarify the details of the invitation, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The Gaza Peace Council, which is officially named the Board of Peace, is a key element of US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, which was endorsed by the United Nations Security Council in late 2025. This peace initiative aims to govern and oversee the rebuilding of Gaza following the devastating two-year conflict between Israel and Hamas. The Board of Peace will act as an international transitional body to manage the region's political and humanitarian recovery.
Trump himself has announced that he will chair the Board, and a number of prominent international figures and US political leaders are expected to be named as members.
Among the initial appointees are US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Trump, in a statement made on January 15, emphasised the significance of the Board, declaring it to be the "Greatest and Most Prestigious Board ever assembled at any time, any place."
