Kazakhstan parliament approves military cooperation deal with Serbia

16 September 2026 11:32

Kazakhstan’s parliament on September 16 approved at first reading a draft law ratifying a military-technical cooperation agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and Serbia.

The agreement, presented by Deputy Defence Minister Shaykh-Hasan Zhazykbaev, was signed in Belgrade on November 29, 2023, Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.

Zhazykbaev said the agreement is intended to establish and further develop mutually beneficial military-technical cooperation between the two countries.

“The main aim of the agreement is to establish and further develop mutually beneficial military-technical cooperation between the two countries,” he said.

The agreement provides for the mutual supply of military equipment, as well as the maintenance and repair of weapons and military equipment. It also envisages joint research and development projects.

The two countries will additionally cooperate on technology transfers, military-technical assistance and the training and education of military-technical personnel.

The agreement also allows for joint testing of weapons and military equipment, taking into account the capabilities of the military infrastructure of Kazakhstan and Serbia.
