Russian speaker says Dagestan will receive necessary support

Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko has said she is confident in the work of Dagestan’s acting head, Fyodor Shchukin, who relies on people’s views rather than “glamorous” reports.

Speaking during a working visit to the republic, Matviyenko said he did not simply immerse himself in the work — he travelled to every settlement, every city and every mountain village and maintains constant dialogue with people, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

“This is especially important in Dagestan, so he cannot be deceived by presentations, glamorous reports or paperwork. He knows everything from the ground up, directly from the people, and naturally draws the appropriate conclusions,” Matviyenko noted.

Matviyenko acknowledged that there are many problems that have accumulated since the 1990s and that Fyodor Vyacheslavovich will receive the necessary assistance in his work.

“There is an understanding of the priorities that have been established. After our conversation, I am absolutely confident that everything will be done properly and correctly. At the same time, there are no abrupt moves, either in terms of personnel or otherwise. It is a calm and measured approach. Many problems have accumulated since the 1990s, and Fyodor Vyacheslavovich will receive all the necessary assistance in his work,” she added.

Earlier, Matviyenko said federal ministries and agencies would provide Dagestan with all necessary support to address the consequences of the spring floods.
