Georgia appoints new ambassador to Azerbaijan PHOTO

Georgia has appointed Giorgi Zakarashvili as its Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan, Georgia's Foreign Ministry announced. 

Zakarashvili has extensive experience at Georgia’s Foreign Ministry and in the country’s diplomatic missions abroad.

He has served as Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine and Permanent Representative to GUAM since 2021.

From 2016 to 2019, Zakarashvili was Minister Plenipotentiary at the Section of Interests of Georgia at the Embassy of Switzerland in Russia. Between 2012 and 2016, he held the same rank at the Georgian Embassy in Ukraine and the country’s Permanent Representation to GUAM.

Zakarashvili has also held several senior positions at Georgia’s Foreign Ministry, including Director of the Political Department and Head of the Division for Relations with the Countries of Central Asia.

A reminder that Zurab Pataradze was previously Georgia’s ambassador to Baku. Pataradze is currently the Prime Minister of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara (AR).
