Action icon Jackie Chan chooses Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan for new film
Legendary action star Jackie Chan will shoot the film “Armour of God 4: Ultimatum” in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, Variety has confirmed.
Filming is set to begin in July 2026, while the global premiere is scheduled for the second quarter of 2027. The project will be directed by Robert Kun, who has previously worked on films such as Wanted and Major Grom: The Game.
The new instalment will continue the story of Chan’s character, known as the Asian Hawk. According to the plot, he is once again drawn into a dangerous race for an ancient artefact called the Tumar, with a reward exceeding $20 million.
The project is being developed by Kazakhstan-based Salem Entertainment with support from the Alem Fund, registered at the Astana International Financial Centre.
Producer Igor Tsai described the filming of a Jackie Chan franchise as a historic moment for Central Asia’s film industry.
Chan himself stated that this is his first project with Kazakh partners, but “definitely not the last,” adding: “I have never filmed there before, and it opens up many new visual and creative ideas.”
Earlier, the possibility of filming parts of Armour of God in Uzbekistan was also discussed. In December 2025, representatives of Salem Entertainment considered the country as one of the potential locations.
