Japan to send 30 all-terrain vehicles, trucks to Ukraine, says defence minister

04 February 2025 17:17

Japanese Defence Minister Gen Nakatani has said that Tokyo is set to deliver a new shipment of all-terrain vehicles and small trucks, currently in use by Japan’s Self-Defense Forces, to Ukraine.

“About 30 vehicles will be provided to Ukraine, with six small trucks already sent on February 2,” he said, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.

The minister expressed strong belief that the equipment would significantly aid Ukraine in its efforts.

Earlier, on December 26, reports revealed that Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba held a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. During the conversation, Ishiba reiterated Japan's unwavering support for Ukraine, affirming that Tokyo stands united with the nation.

On December 24, Ukraine announced that Japan and the UK had jointly pledged $1 billion to aid the country, with funds earmarked for strengthening the economy and addressing social and humanitarian needs.
