JD Vance heads to Pakistan for US–Iran talks
US Vice President JD Vance has departed for Pakistan ahead of planned negotiations between the United States and Iran, expressing cautious optimism about the upcoming talks.
Speaking before his departure, Vance said he was looking forward to the negotiations and suggested they could yield positive outcomes, Clash Report informs.
"If the Iranians are willing to negotiate in good faith and extend an open hand, that’s one thing. If they’re going to try to play us, they’re going to find that the negotiating team is not that receptive. The President has given us some pretty clear guidelines, and we’ll see how it goes,” he said.
Talks between the United States and Iran are scheduled to begin on the morning of April 11 in Islamabad.
Officials from both sides have indicated that the discussions are expected to address longstanding disputes, though they cautioned that significant progress may be difficult given the current gap between the two sides’ positions.
