Kallas: EU to allocate €100 million to Lebanese army
The European Union will allocate €100 million to the Lebanese army to support the ceasefire with Israel, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas has stated.
In a post on X, she said support for Lebanon is also the best way to combat the Shiite militant group Hezbollah, Caliber.Az reports.
“The best way to reduce the threat posed by Hezbollah is to strengthen the Lebanese state, empower its institutions, and restore its monopoly on the use of force,” she wrote.
The latest ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon offers a chance to prevent a return to full-scale hostilities.

But the death of a UNIFIL peacekeeper and continued skirmishes underscore the tenuous nature of what was agreed.
The best way to reduce the threat posed by Hezbollah…
According to her, the EU believes the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon could help prevent a return to full-scale hostilities.
However, she warned that the death of a UNIFIL peacekeeper and continued skirmishes underscore the tenuous nature of what was agreed.
