Kremlin: No discussions on Trump’s participation in Moscow’s Victory Day events

21 April 2025 20:09

Press Secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov has said that there are no ongoing discussions about US President Donald Trump attending Moscow’s May 9 celebrations.

Peskov clarified that there had been no official conversations or planning regarding President Trump’s possible participation in Russia’s annual Victory Day events, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.

When asked directly about the topic, Peskov responded succinctly, saying, "There have been no talks on this matter."

Earlier, Peskov stated that more than 20 heads of state and government are expected to attend the parade marking the 80th anniversary of Victory Day. He emphasised that Russia would be happy to welcome all those who wish to commemorate this significant occasion.

On February 12, 2025, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone talk during which they agreed on the possibility of mutual visits. However, the details and specific dates for these visits have not been finalised yet.

Peskov emphasised that any such meetings between the leaders would take place before any potential visit by Trump to Moscow for the May 9 celebrations. He also suggested that Saudi Arabia could serve as a potential venue for a summit between the two leaders.
