Kyiv receives first shipment of generators from European Union PHOTO
Kyiv has received its first batch of 177 generators from the European Union, including 135 units of 20 kW and 42 units of 22 kW, Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced on Telegram.
The generators will primarily be used to connect individual heating points in residential buildings where feasible, Caliber.Az reports.
The delivery comes from the EU’s civil protection strategic reserve, rescEU, coordinated through the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) under the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO). The shipment is fully funded by the EU and coordinated by the European Commission.
A second batch of 41 generators is expected to arrive on February 6, bringing the total EU contribution to 218 units.
Mayor Klitschko stressed the critical need for generators amid widespread attacks on Kyiv’s infrastructure. He also met with EU ambassadors to discuss the current situation in the capital and the logistics of supplying food, fuel, medical supplies, and essential goods, highlighting support in the form of generators, cogeneration units, and water supply pumps.
