Kyiv says Iran–Russia cooperation violates international law
Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reaffirmed Kyiv’s firm stance, emphasising its support for the Iranian people and their right to security, freedom, and prosperity amid rising tensions in the region.
In a statement published on the ministry’s official Telegram channel, Ukrainian officials highlighted decades of Iranian government actions, including the use of violence against its own citizens and other countries, backing of armed groups across the Middle East, and provision of military assistance to Russia in its war against Ukraine.
The ministry also recalled the extensive drone strikes carried out with “Shahed” drones against Ukrainian cities, describing them as leaving a lasting and profound impact on the memory of the Ukrainian people.
Ukraine stressed that the ongoing cooperation between Moscow and Tehran constitutes a violation of international law and undermines global efforts to restore peace and stability. According to Kyiv, the recent escalation is fueled in part by the Iranian authorities’ intensified crackdown on peaceful protesters over the past several months.
