Kyiv seeks stronger US role in peace talks, says Ukraine's FM

The peace negotiation process between Ukraine and Russia involving the United States is currently on hold, and Kyiv is awaiting the arrival of a US delegation, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said, as cited by RBC-Ukraine.

“If we look at the current state of the track involving our American partners, it is on pause. Volodymyr Zelenskyy has spoken about this repeatedly. We are waiting for the American negotiating team to visit us. We welcome the efforts of the United States and would like to see greater momentum and stronger US engagement,” Sybiha noted.

The acting foreign minister argued that achieving a just peace without US participation would be impossible.

He also said it was difficult to envision effective security guarantees without American involvement.

“All of this was discussed during Zelenskyy's talks with Trump during his recent visit to Washington. Ukraine is committed to ending this war. We are using every opportunity to bring a just peace closer for Ukraine,” Sybiha stressed.

At the end of July, reports said that US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner were expected to visit Ukraine in the near future.
