Kyiv signs agreement with London on loan for defence projects
Ukrainian and British defence ministers Rustem Umerov and John Healey have signed an intergovernmental agreement on official credit support for the development of the republic's defence capabilities, Office Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a message.
The agreement provides for a loan of two billion pounds sterling, which will support defence projects, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Office's message.
Among other things, we are talking about the supply of weapons and the establishment of repairs.
The parties also expect to launch partial production of air defence systems, armoured vehicles and ammunition. The amount specified in the agreement may be increased in the future as cooperation is established.
The loan repayment period is 15 years. It is expected that by 2026 it will allow the country to provide air defence systems and radar equipment, obtain technology and master the production of barrels, spare parts and components for artillery systems.
