Kyrgyzstan targets role as regional energy education, training hub
Kyrgyzstan is positioning itself as a regional leader in energy education with the launch of the first energy competence centre in Central Asia. The initiative aims to strengthen the country’s role as an educational and technological hub in the energy sector.
The agreement establishing the centre was signed at the “Energoprom” forum in Kazan between the National Electricity Grid of Kyrgyzstan and Tatarstan’s Network Company. The centre will focus on training specialists to work on live high-voltage lines safely, without the need to power down the infrastructure—a critical skill for modern energy operations.
The project is designed with a regional perspective: the centre will eventually prepare highly skilled personnel not only for Kyrgyzstan but also for neighboring Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
According to the Kyrgyz Ministry of Energy, the creation of this specialized training hub and the adoption of innovative technologies are central to the country’s strategy for accelerated modernization of its energy sector.
