Lithuania detains citizen suspected of spying for Russia

Lithuanian authorities have detained a citizen suspected of spying for Russia, the Prosecutor General’s Office said.
“A preliminary investigation is underway into allegations of espionage against a Lithuanian citizen. The suspect has been detained,” the office said in a statement published on its website, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
According to security services, the suspect allegedly collected information illegally and passed it to Russian authorities. The investigation is focused on the individual’s alleged interest in military facilities, military equipment and its movements.
Under Lithuanian law, espionage is punishable by between six and 15 years in prison.
