Lufthansa pilots' strike disrupts flights across Germany
Numerous Lufthansa flights across Germany were cancelled on Monday, April 13, due to a new strike by pilots.
The Vereinigung Cockpit union announced a 48-hour industrial action affecting both Lufthansa and its subsidiaries, including Lufthansa Cargo and CityLine, according to German media.
The strike began shortly after midnight and is set to continue until the end of Tuesday, April 14.
Major disruptions have been reported at the airline’s largest hubs in Frankfurt and Munich, with the impact also felt at other airports across the country. According to the union, hundreds of flights are expected to be cancelled daily nationwide.
The strike was triggered by disagreements in collective bargaining negotiations, particularly over pension schemes and pay conditions at the regional subsidiary CityLine. The dispute over pensions has now escalated for the third time since the beginning of the year.
