Lviv court reviews detention of suspected terrorist after deadly attack VIDEO
A pre-trial hearing is underway in Lviv to determine the preventive measures for Iryna Savetina, the woman accused of carrying out a terrorist attack in the city.
Savetina told authorities that she was unaware she was handling explosives and expressed remorse, saying she did not anticipate the consequences of her actions, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.
She claimed that a handler contacted her just a week before the attack and that she only learned after her arrest that the individual was allegedly affiliated with Russian intelligence.
The attack, which took place on the night of February 22, left a 23-year-old police officer dead and injured 24 others. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and Savetina’s involvement, while the court considers appropriate legal measures.
The hearing comes amid heightened security concerns in the region, as law enforcement agencies work to ensure public safety and prevent further attacks.
