Macron: France “in no way” target in Hormuz vessel incident
French President Emmanuel Macron said France “was in no way the target of the attack” following an incident involving a container ship linked to French shipping group CMA CGM in the Strait of Hormuz.
The remarks were conveyed by government spokesperson Maud Bregeon after a Council of Ministers meeting, BFM reported.
The vessel involved, the San Antonio, had been chartered by CMA CGM and was affected by shelling in the region. According to Bregeon, the ship was sailing under the Maltese flag, and its crew was made up of Philippine nationals.
“We express our full solidarity with them,” she said.
French authorities stressed that the incident is not being treated as a deliberate attack on France, despite the French company’s role in operating the vessel.
