Macron open to resuming dialogue with Putin when situation stabilises
French President Emmanuel Macron has not dismissed the possibility of reopening dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin, suggesting that talks could take place when the conditions are right.
Macron stated that nothing was excluded and that he had always maintained this view, adding that dialogue with President Putin could occur at the right moment, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The French president cautioned that if Putin is not halted in Ukraine, he would likely shift his focus to Moldova and potentially even to Romania.
Macron's comments reflect a willingness to engage with Moscow despite ongoing tensions in the region. He added that contacts between the two leaders could occur "when the situation stabilises". However, the French president did not clarify what he specifically meant by the term "stabilisation", leaving room for interpretation.
The remarks come amid heightened geopolitical challenges and a strained relationship between France and Russia. Macron’s statement signals an openness to diplomacy, contingent on favourable circumstances, as the international community continues to grapple with the ongoing conflict and regional instability.
