Macron says France, Ukraine will push for energy strike moratorium PHOTO

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met French President Emmanuel Macron in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

The talks took place at the residence of France’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ukrinform reports.

Following the meeting, Macron said on X that France and Ukraine would work together to secure a moratorium on strikes against Ukraine’s energy and civilian infrastructure.

“We will pool our efforts to secure a moratorium on strikes against energy infrastructure and against Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. Civilian populations must be protected, and we must initiate as soon as possible a serious negotiation on the conditions for peace between Russia and Ukraine,” Macron wrote.

Before meeting with Zelenskyy, Macron held talks with U.S. President Donald Trump in New York. Macron said after the meeting that the two had discussed the possibility of halting strikes against energy infrastructure.

Zelenskyy, meanwhile, met with U.S. lawmakers and thanked them for passing legislation imposing sanctions on Russia.
