Magnitude 6.0 earthquake strikes northeastern Japan

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck off the coast of northeastern Japan on Tuesday, according to the country's national meteorological agency.
The agency said the earthquake's epicentre was located in the Pacific Ocean east of Iwate Prefecture at a depth of 40 kilometres, foreign media reports.
Authorities reported no immediate injuries or damage following the quake.
No tsunami warning was issued, and officials continue to monitor the situation for any aftershocks.
