Magnitude 6.9 quake strikes Philippines, tsunami warning in effect
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has reported another 6.9-magnitude earthquake near the Philippines.
A tsunami warning has been reissued, Caliber.Az reports, citing PHIVOLCS’s social media page on X.
The epicentre of the tremors was near the city of Manay, with the focus at a depth of 10 km.
The recent 6.9-magnitude earthquake near Manay, Davao Oriental, on October 10, 2025, is part of a series of significant seismic events in the region.
Earlier on the same day, a 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck approximately 43 km east of Manay, resulting in at least six fatalities, numerous injuries, and widespread infrastructure damage.
Both quakes occurred along the Philippine Trench Zone (PFZ), which is known for producing powerful offshore earthquakes.
