Mass protests keep sweeping Morocco, injuries reported
On the evening of September 30, protests in the city of Oujda, Morocco, led to injuries among both security personnel and demonstrators.
Thirty-two members of the national security service, five military personnel, and three civilians were injured, Caliber.Az reports per Moroccan media.
The demonstrations were part of a broader wave of protests across the country organized by the youth movement GenZ 212 against corruption and government spending on preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, Morocco World News reports.
Dozens of arrests have occurred nationwide. In Casablanca on Sunday, 21 protesters were detained after blocking a highway. On Tuesday, around 49 people, including 16 minors and one woman, were arrested in Berkane. Over 100 arrests were reported in Rabat.
