Massive overnight attack hits Kharkiv region, civilians killed PHOTO
Russian forces carried out a large-scale overnight attack on the Kharkiv region on Tuesday, June 9, targeting multiple locations, including Chuhuiv and Kharkiv, Ukrainian authorities said.
According to officials, Chuhuiv was struck by a combined missile and drone attack. Mayor Halyna Minaieva said the strikes triggered fires and caused damage to apartment buildings, private homes and vehicles. Preliminary reports indicate that three people were killed, including a 22-year-old pregnant woman, while six others sustained injuries.
In Kharkiv, Russian forces deployed 12 Shahed drones, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said. The strikes hit 12 separate locations across the city, affecting industrial enterprises, municipal infrastructure and residential areas. The attacks caused fires and damaged at least 18 vehicles as well as residential buildings.
The head of the regional administration, Oleh Syniehubov, said that, according to the latest data, the number of people injured in Kharkiv had risen to 15, including three children.
Authorities said emergency services were responding at the impacted sites.
