Media: Damascus accuses Kurdish forces of violating ceasefire
Kurdish formations of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have violated the ceasefire agreement and attacked positions of the Syrian Arab Army near Ain al-Arab, Syria’s military command told the state news agency SANA.
According to the military, SDF units used more than 25 FPV drones, destroying four military transport vehicles. In addition, the Kurdish forces reportedly carried out several strikes on the M4 highway and nearby villages, leaving several civilians injured.
The Syrian army said it is considering response options and will take necessary measures in reaction to the attacks, the military command’s press office stated.
Clashes between the Syrian Arab Army and Kurdish formations resumed in late December 2025. On January 18, the two sides signed an agreement on a temporary ceasefire. The truce was extended the previous day for another 15 days to facilitate the completion of a US operation to transfer detained Islamic State (IS) militants to Iraq.
