Media: Former Israel’s domestic security chief evacuated from UAE
Former head of Israel’s domestic security agency Shin Bet, Ronen Bar, was reportedly evacuated from the United Arab Emirates following a potential security threat during a private visit to a conference, according to Channel 13.
Bar and his wife traveled to the UAE to attend a security conference organised by UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Their presence in the country was reportedly kept confidential for security reasons.
At some point during the visit, Bar’s identity was allegedly exposed, prompting concerns for his safety and leading to an urgent decision to evacuate him and his wife back to Israel, the reports said. Bar has not publicly commented on the incident.
Israeli military correspondents claimed that the perceived threat was linked to Iran, though no further details were provided.
However, an official source in the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied that any such incident had taken place on Emirati territory. The source stressed that the United Arab Emirates maintains a policy of non-interference in the internal affairs of other states and “will not allow themselves to be drawn into political conflicts or domestic political debates.”
