Media: Germany's far-right party warns of corruption risks in Ukraine aid
Germany’s right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has claimed that funds allocated for Ukraine’s planned post-war economic recovery are allegedly at high risk of being misappropriated.
The assessment appears in a draft resolution submitted to the Bundestag and reviewed by a correspondent from Russia’s Lenta.ru media outlet.
In the document, AfD reportedly argues that Ukraine has faced repeated corruption scandals in recent years. The party states that, according to its assessment, a corruption case at the end of 2025 involved the alleged embezzlement of millions of euros and affected senior figures within Ukraine’s political leadership, including President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The party also commented on the German government's intention to participate in the EU's €506 billion post-war reconstruction programme for Ukraine and pointed out the risk of funds being stolen if they are allocated.
The party also noted that Berlin is Kyiv’s second largest donor after the United States. AfD separately emphasised that the total amount of German aid since 2022, including support through EU institutions, has already exceeded €100 billion.
