Yemen’s Houthis named Saudi Aramco as potential target
Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement, commonly known as the Houthis, has said it has added facilities belonging to Saudi state-owned oil company Saudi Aramco to its list of potential targets, Al-Akhbar reports, citing sources.
The newspaper said, in a post on X, that the potential targets include oil storage facilities, pipelines, export terminals and other oil-related infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.
According to Ansar Allah, its further actions would depend on Riyadh’s fulfilment of the Yemeni side’s demands.
The Houthis also made it clear that they would continue restricting the passage of Saudi vessels through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
The group noted that the measures will remain in place until the air and naval blockade of Yemen is lifted.
Meanwhile, sources at the port of Hodeidah reported increased shipping activity in the area of the strait.
They claimed that Houthi-controlled forces had not allowed a single Saudi tanker or cargo vessel to pass through Bab el-Mandeb in recent weeks.
