Media: Hamas to respond to Gaza settlement proposal this evening

On July 4, the Palestinian movement Hamas is expected to deliver its response to the latest Gaza settlement proposal to mediators, along with its comments on the technical aspects of the proposed framework.

A representative of a Palestinian faction involved in talks with Hamas said the movement has informed them it will deliver its response to the mediators this evening, Caliber.Az reports per Al Hadath.

He also suggested that Hamas is likely to “agree to the proposals, albeit with comments concerning the technical elements of the possible arrangements”.

The faction representative noted that those taking part in the discussions “support endorsing a ceasefire agreement as a first phase lasting 60 days”.

During this period, he added, “talks should be held on a full cessation of hostilities and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the territory of the enclave”.

However, he stressed that “the final decision on whether to accept the proposal rests with the Hamas leadership”.
