Media: Hezbollah rebuilding military might amidst Lebanon tensions
Hezbollah is actively attempting to rebuild its military capabilities within Lebanon, a source within the Israeli security apparatus said.
The source revealed that Hezbollah is engaged in clandestine efforts to smuggle weapons through key entry points, including Lebanon’s airport, seaports, and border crossings. Of particular concern is the trafficking of equipment used in drones and precision-guided missiles, underscoring the group’s ongoing militarization, Caliber.Az reports per Arab media.
Highlighting the potential for escalating internal conflict, the source warned that Hezbollah’s actions could ignite a new civil war in Lebanon. Nonetheless, Israel, with the support of the United States, continues to rigorously monitor and target Hezbollah’s presence throughout the country.
“Israel provides Lebanon with intelligence and coordinates regarding the targets it strikes,” the source stated, underscoring the close cooperation between Israeli forces and Lebanese authorities.
Addressing the role of the Lebanese military, the source asserted, “When the Lebanese army does not confiscate Hezbollah’s weapons, we bomb.” He further elaborated that Hezbollah effectively controls when and where the Lebanese army is permitted to seize arms, deliberately retaining its strategic weapons and refusing to surrender them. Meanwhile, Israeli intelligence persistently uncovers and exposes these concealed arsenals.
The source concluded by emphasizing Israel’s firm stance on territorial control, affirming that Israeli forces will maintain their presence in the contested “five points” as long as Hezbollah continues its efforts to rebuild its military strength.
