Media: Indirect US-Iran talks set to begin in Qatar
30 June 2026 17:17
Iranian and US delegations are in Doha for meetings with the Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and Pakistani mediators, while indirect negotiations between the two sides are expected to begin on July 1, Al Arabiya reports, citing sources.
Sources said no direct talks between the Iranian and US delegations are scheduled to take place in Qatar on June 30.
Instead, the delegations are meeting separately with the Qatari PM and Pakistani mediators ahead of indirect negotiations.
According to sources, Wednesday's talks will focus on the Strait of Hormuz and broader regional stability.
They also claimed that Iran is expected to receive $3 billion from its frozen assets by the end of the week.
