Media: Qatar plans to ramp up LNG exports after reopening of Hormuz
16 June 2026 14:22
Qatar plans to rapidly increase its liquefied natural gas (LNG) production once the Strait of Hormuz is reopened, aiming to restore most of its export capacity within two months, Bloomberg reports, citing people familiar with the matter.
According to the report, QatarEnergy has told buyers it expects to raise output to around 50% of maximum capacity within a month of the restoration of safe passage through the strait, and to about 80% within two months.
The remaining capacity, equivalent to two production trains, will take years to fully restore following damage caused by Iranian missile strikes in March, the publication added.
