Media: SDF agrees in principle to transfer Deir ez-Zor oil fields to Syrian government
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have agreed in principle to transfer control of oil production in Deir ez-Zor to the Syrian government, according Syria TV, citing informed sources.
Under the terms of the deal, the Syrian government will assume authority over oil operations in the eastern province, while the SDF will retain a portion of the production to meet local market needs.
According to sources familiar with the negotiations, the first phase of this integration will focus on Deir ez-Zor and will encompass oil fields, civil institutions, and security forces.
A verbal understanding on the arrangement was reportedly reached during a meeting last week between SDF commander Mazloum Abdi and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
