Media: Syria may reach peace deal with Israel in coming months
Syria may reach a peace agreement with Israel in the coming months, according to Lebanon’s Ad-Diyar newspaper, which cites informed political sources.
“The signing of a peace agreement between Sharaa and Israel is effectively a done deal — it’s now a matter of weeks or months,” the sources told Ad-Diyar.
Lebanon, they added, is also under mounting pressure to sign a similar agreement, either concurrently with Syria or shortly thereafter. A timeline for concluding both deals was reportedly established at the beginning of this year, and efforts to meet that schedule are expected to intensify.
Amid these developments, the newspaper highlights growing international pressure on Lebanon to follow Syria’s lead.
The United States has reportedly set early 2025 as the target for finalising both agreements and is expected to ramp up diplomatic efforts with Lebanon in the near future to ensure the success of its regional strategy.
