Media: US completes troops withdrawal from two largest military bases in East Syria VIDEO

Emerging media reports indicate that American forces have withdrawn from the oil and gas field bases at Al-Omar and Conoco in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor province, using dozens of trucks that arrived from Iraqi Kurdistan.

This information was released by The New Arab publication, according to which all troops have been pulled out of the Conoco base, while around 50 personnel remain at Al-Omar.

The article recalls that in a recent previous operation, 60 tankers carrying military equipment were already removed from Al-Omar, which forms the largest US base in the region.

According to US statements made by various officials such as Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell, the relocation and withdrawal of heavy equipment is expected to continue over the coming months. “This consolidation reflects the significant steps we have made toward degrading ISIS’ appeal and operational capability regionally and globally,” Parnell said back in April, revealing that the process will bring the US footprint in Syria down to less than 1,000 forces until security responsibilities can be fully handed over to “local partners” in northern and eastern Syria.
