On October 6, at the initiative of the Ministry of Defence, with the assistance of the State Commission for the Affairs of Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, military attachés of foreign states accredited in Azerbaijan visited a mass grave in the village of Edilli, Khojavand region, where the remains of persons allegedly being servicemen of the Azerbaijani army were found.
Major General Hussein Mahmudov, head of the International Military Cooperation Department, informed the military representatives of foreign countries about the gross violations of the norms and principles of international humanitarian law by the Armenian armed groups and the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia, which illegally operated on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan during the First Karabakh War, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Defence Ministry.
It was told in detail about the facts of the capture, as a result, and the killings under torture of persons allegedly being servicemen of the Azerbaijani army.
It was noted that the remains of 12 people were found in the mass grave. Fragments of clothing on the remains and found items indicate that the buried were soldiers. The military attaches were informed that the arms and legs of the skeletons were tied with wire and rope.
Major-General Mahmudov noted that nothing is known about the fate of up to 4,000 civilians and prisoners of war who went missing as a result of the Armenian aggression.
Then the military attaches visited one of the military units and got acquainted with the conditions created here for the personnel.
