Modi takes stand on Washington shooting, expresses support for Trump
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commented on the shooting incident at the Washington Hilton hotel, where US President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and Vice President JD Vance were present.
“Relieved to learn that President Trump, the First Lady and Vice President are safe and unharmed following the recent security incident at a Washington DC hotel. He also stressed that violence has no place in a democratic society and must be strongly condemned.
The shooting occurred during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner at the Washington Hilton in Washington, a high-profile annual political-media event attended by senior US officials.
Gunfire broke out near the main security screening area of the hotel, triggering panic inside the venue and an immediate evacuation of President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other officials.
Security personnel reportedly responded within minutes, with at least one suspect taken into custody and an investigation launched into the motive and circumstances of the attack.
