Moldova buys over 2,000 cubic metres of gas from Greece
Moldovan company Energocom has bought a batch of natural gas from Greek gas operator DEPA in a test mode for 477 euros per thousand cubic metres.
Moldova announced plans to conduct a trial gas purchase from Greece on April 13 to create an alternative to fuel supplies from Russia, Prime reports, citing the Energy Ministry of Moldova.
Energocom said it would buy 24 MWh (about 2,200 thousand cubic metres) of gas from Greek gas operator DEPA to test the operation of the gas delivery logistics chain via Greece, Bulgaria and Romania.
The gas is expected to cross the Moldovan border at Iasi - Ungheni. The cost of fuel from Greece will be €45 per 1 MWh (€477 per 1,000 cu m), excluding transportation costs.
On April 9, Energocom signed an EFET framework contract with Greek gas operator DEPA in Athens. On April 7, the chairman of the board of the gas distribution company Moldovagaz, Vadim Ceban, said that Moldova was able to save over $420 million on gas supplies by 2022 thanks to a contract with Russia's Gazprom.
