Moldova summons Russian envoy after drones breach airspace
The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned a series of unauthorized drone incursions into the country’s airspace, including the crash of one drone on the roof of a residential house in the town of Cuhureștii de Jos, Florești district.
In response, Russian Ambassador Oleg Ozerov has been summoned to the ministry to provide explanations for the incidents, which the Moldovan authorities described as a serious threat to civilian safety, Caliber.Az reports.
“The accredited Ambassador of the Russian Federation will be summoned tomorrow, November 26, at 14:00 to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide explanations regarding these unacceptable actions,” the ministry said.
“Moldova remains committed to maintaining peace and stability in the region,” the ministry added.
According to reports, Moldova’s airspace control systems, operated by the National Army, detected six drones crossing into Moldovan airspace without authorization on the morning of November 25. One of these drones subsequently crashed onto the roof of a residential property in Cuhureștii de Jos.
