Moldovan president accuses Russia of plotting state coup
Moldovan President Maia Sandu has levelled serious allegations against Russia, accusing Moscow of attempting to orchestrate a state coup in her country.
The accusations came in the aftermath of a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, where Sandu outlined Russia's alleged tactics aimed at controlling Moldova, TASS reports.
Sandu's statement, delivered after discussions with Macron, pointed towards Russia's purported strategies, including energy blackmail, support for protests, dissemination of disinformation, and even alleged attempts at staging a state coup. These assertions underscore escalating tensions between Moldova and Russia, with Sandu vehemently opposing what she sees as interference in her country's internal affairs.
Furthermore, Sandu expressed gratitude towards Macron for the support extended by France to the Moldovan government, including both financial assistance and military cooperation. The meeting in Paris resulted in agreements on various fronts of collaboration between France and Moldova, particularly in the realms of military and economic cooperation.
