Moldovan, Ukrainian security services exchanging data on Transnistria
The Moldovan and Ukrainian state institutions and security services are exchanging information and together monitoring the situation in the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldavan Republic, fearing an escalation.
“Security and peace in Moldova greatly depend on further developments in Ukraine, especially in the Odessa region, all state institutions - general staffs, security services, border police of Moldova get in touch with Ukrainian colleagues. Ukraine’s Kyiv and Moldova’s Chisinau are concerned about the situation in Transnistria,” RIA Novosti reports referring to Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament Igor Grosu.
Grosu believes that the internal forces of Transnistria, willing to destabilize the situation, made the recent provocations in the region.
“We are closely monitoring the situation, we see concern and fear of an escalation of the situation, the Ukrainian leadership is against aggravation of the situation,” Grosu added.
