Moscow calls for stabilisation after rebel attack in Mali

Russia has called for a swift return to stability in Mali following a recent rebel attack, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said during a briefing.

When asked about reports on the size of the so-called “African Corps” in the country, Peskov referred the matter to Russia’s Defence Ministry, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.

“This is a matter for the Ministry of Defence, and I recommend that you direct your questions to that agency,” he said.

Last week, Mali experienced an attempted coup organised by terrorist groups. Around 12,000 militants sought to seize the presidential palace in Bamako, as well as key administrative centres in Gao, Kidal, Kita, and Sevare.
