At around 9:00 p.m., it was confirmed that the targeted fan had been informed of the risk, and local police had been alerted and were taking precautions. Despite these efforts, an attack on the Israelis could not be prevented.
Mossad’s early intelligence identified plans for violence and sent a warning to both Israel's National Security Council and the Diaspora Ministry. The European branch of Mossad also contacted Dutch authorities, urging an increase in police presence around the stadium to protect Israeli fans.
